Case Study: Health and Welfare Consulting
Profile
F&F worked diligently with a fully insured client employing 325 workers.
A full 20 percent of these employees worked from remote satellite locations.
Situation
When this client approached F&F, the majority of its large claims represented
only 2 percent of its employee population yet it faced high HMO capitation
expenses. The employer’s multiple satellite locations offered limited
access to providers and few benefit options. In addition, this employer did
not offer wellness or disease-management programs to its employees.
Objectives
This client asked F&F to help it move to self-insured funding to realize
cash flow savings. In addition, the client wanted to establish an effective
wellness and disease-management program and activate health management services
to focus on the 2 percent of large claimants. Its third objective was to
implement an Executive Provider Organzition (EPO) program to provide more provider options to the satellite
locations and offer multiple provider networks to best suit the needs of
each location.
Results
Working with its client, F&F:
- Maintained employee contribution
- Reduced renewal costs by 12 percent
- Increased plan benefits
- Reduced large claims by 65 percent
